6th Grade Health Education Information

Randolph Field ISD students in grade 6 participate in Health Education.  The curriculum for the 6th grade Health Education class is based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for grade 6 Health.  These TEKS can be found at https://tea.texas.gov/sites/default/files/ch115b.pdf .  

 

As we prepare to teach the physical education portion of our curriculum in mid-November, it is necessary for us to reach out to you in reference to some of the subjects we will be teaching in 6th grade health.

 

Below, please find the topics of instruction we will discuss in class.

 

  • Human Body Growth and Development (Chapter 9: pp: 190-195, 200-201, 202 (Physical Changes) 204-205)
  • Benefits of abstinence: (Chapter 5: p. 103)
  • Abstinence and preventing STDs: (Chapter 10: p. 226)
  • Body Systems (Chapter 8: pp.164 - 185)
  • Caring for your Body (Chapter 7: pp. 142-155)
  • Disease and Disease Prevention (Chapter 10: pp. 215-223, 226, 228-231)
  • Drug Awareness (Chapter 13: pp. 285 -287, 292-293, 297)
  • Tobacco and Alcohol (Chapter 14: p. 313)

 

*A digital copy of the textbook will be made available through your child’s Google Classroom account. Feel free to read the coordinating chapters and specific pages we will use in order to give your child the most well-rounded and age appropriate health education possible.
