Classroom Expectations

Philosophy
The visual arts are important to the cognitive growth of children and adolescents.  The art studio will challenge students to use creative problem solving skills that will evoke independent, higher ordered thinking. By maintaining a non-judgmental environment students will achieve aesthetic education through a variety of reflective shaping medias. Through the practices of independent thinking and a safe learning environment it is my mission that my classroom will be the home to artistic individuals of integrity.

Classroom Expectations:
The art room is an environment where students should feel free to express their creativity. Creating this harmonious atmosphere can be achieved only if there is trust and respect between all students and faculty. Students are expected to:

  1. Be kind to others, to yourself and to me
  2. Grow: Focus on your art, your progress. Art is a skill and takes time. Comparison is thief of joy
  3. Communicate: Ask me for help. Help others
  4. Effort: Try hard, try again, don’t give up
  5. Organized: Take care of art supplies and art room
  6. Feedback: Be coachable, listen to advice
  7. Always do your personal best
