Psychology Google Classroom

Google classroom join code is posted in the classroom.  Weekly planner, course information, assignments, class materials, and videos are posted in the Sociology Google Classroom. 

 

Chapter Assignments (40%)

Each chapter will require the students to complete a Reading, Writing & Thinking assignment and vocabulary.

 

Reading, Writing & Thinking Assignments

  • Pick one selection from the assigned chapter that most interests you.
  • Write the chapter, title and page number of your reading selection.
  • Analyze the section you have read. 
  • Write, in your own words three paragraphs (Intro, summary & conclusion) each   

   containing 4 sentences.

  • Conclusion paragraph will comparing how the information applies to your own life or  a 

    commentary.

 

Vocabulary Quiz  and/Chapter Vocabulary, People & Theories (40%)

  • Vocabulary Quizzes will be given for each chapter.  Students interested in improving  their vocabulary quiz grade can also complete the chapter vocabulary redo.  Additional points to quiz grade will not exceed 90%. One point will be given for each  hand written vocabulary word definition.   An additional point will be given for a sentence and an illustration of the word.  If no vocabulary is completed the quiz will remain unchanged.  

 

Psychology Notebook (10%)

The notebook will include the daily notes from graphic organizers, video clips, maps and/or student questions and discussions.  ✪

 

Tests (50%)

Every chapter will have short answer questions.    An optional short answer question will be offered to all students to complete for extra credit on every test.  If a student is absent, there is a one week grace period to take the test.  However, if the test is during the 9 week of the grading period the student will take the test ASAP.

 

RETESTING POLICY

  • Any student may retake a test if the following requirements are met:

Taken within 2 weeks of students receiving grade

Re-teaching methods determined at teacher discretion (i.e. WIN, tutoring, additional assignments)

At teacher discretion an alternative assessment may be used.

  • Once the requirements are met, the higher of the two grades will be the final grade for that test. 

 

Grading Policy Quick Check  grades are worth 10%. Daily grades (RWTs, Vocabulary,  & Cooperative groups) are worth 40%.   Test grades (Projects & Tests) are worth 50%. Students who have not turned in assignments will be referred to tutoring. Parents will be notified if students refuse to attend tutoring. Repeat offending students who refuse to attend tutoring will be referred to a Secondary Principal.

 

Tardies

First                     Tardy Warning 

Second Tardy      Teacher will conference with student 

Third Tardy          Teacher will contact parents and conference with student 

Fourth Tardy        Teacher will submit tardy form to administrator who will schedule the lunch  

                              detention date and require tardy form be signed by parent. 

Fifth or more        Teacher will submit tardy form to administrator. Disciplinary action will be 

                              taken by the administrator in accordance with the Student Handbook.

Electronics:

Chromebooks

Students are required to follow all aspects of the RFISD Acceptable Use Agreement, Student Code of Conduct, and Chromebook Initiative Handbook.

Chromebooks may be used during class time to complete assignments. All use of the Chromebook will be at teacher discretion. If at any time there is reason to believe the Chromebook is being used for reasons other than those given in instruction students will be asked to turn it off and put it away. No exceptions.

Cell Phones

Cell phones must be put away upon entering the classroom. Cell phones will only be used at the discretion of the teacher.

 

Supplies

Students will need a notebook, highlighters, markers or colored pencils.
