TEXAS
In Texas history the students will learn about the early people of the land, the Spanish
explorers, and the Spanish colonization. In addition, the students will learn about the
formation of Mexico as a country, the road to the Texas revolution, and the steps to
Texas independence. Texas became its own country and later joined the United States,
leading to further learning opportunities about its involvement in the Civil War and the
re-constructional challenges on the frontier. Finally the students will focus on the 20th
century and take a look at growth, oil production, World War I, World War II, and
modern day marvels.
