As I enter my 28th year teaching in Texas, it is evident to me why music adds so much to all our lives.  After many years of performing and teaching, what I remember are the many smiles that I see at every rehearsal and performance.  I’ve watched thousands of students and parents smile each and every day.  That’s what’s special and valuable about music.  It’s a shared experience that both communicates and reciprocates joy to and from each other.  Music creates a spirit of unity, enjoyment, and introspection.   May we all have a year of many smiles.

Band is a class where students experience music from the performer's perspective.  While in band, students learn the art of music performance.  They will learn and prepare many pieces for performances at a variety of venues.  Music is a great opportunity for our students to experience a social emotional learning environment.  Band is a student group involved in musical performances that produce positive emotional experiences.
