Bio

I started performing when I was fourteen and knew right away that music was the path for me. I received my Bachelors Degree from West Virginia University and a Masters Degree from the University of North Texas. While at UNT, I was selected as a teaching fellowship recipient. I also studied conducting with Dennis Fisher, Dr. Jack Stamp and Eugene Migliaro Corporon.

After college I settled in San Antonio, TX and began performing and teaching. I have performed with Louis Bellson, Buddy Defranco, Phil Wilson, Rich Matteson, Nathaniel Davis and the Dorsey Brothers band. Further performance experiences include: woodwind performer for many musical productions, ballets and shows, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Al Sturchio Big Band, Nat Vandiver Big Band, Corazon, numerous chamber and solo recitals as well as appearances with other recitalists.

My teaching career began at Comfort ISD and has continued with directing positions at LaVernia ISD, El Campo ISD, NorthEast ISD, TLU, SAC, Wharton County Junior College and my current position with Randolph ISD. I have had the opportunity to teach every aspect of music from general music to college courses and every grade level, K-college, as well.

As a teacher, I really enjoyed the performance experience that is a part of band. Sharing the experience of playing an instrument and passing on knowledge from my own past performance experiences is one of the great rewards.

Throughout my time as a director I have had the pleasure to teach many successful bands.

I enjoy sharing my experiences by contributing publications to music websites.

I continue to compose for young bands as part of my continued desire to improve music education for our kids and I look forward to working with your child in a musical experience that is different from any other school.
