ProComm Expectations

Welcome to Professional Communications. This class encompasses more than just public speaking. This course will take you through the communication process, and teach you the basic skills of interpersonal communication, group communication, and public speaking in the professional world.

Class Expectations:
1. Participate. This class is focused a lot on class and small-group discussion. And since this class is about communicating, your ability to do so effectively will be a large part of your grade. Participation also includes being a good listener; never disrupt presentations.
2. Be respectful. Many people will be public speaking for the first time ever in this class. This is a very difficult skill and can cause a lot of anxiety. You will show grace to those who aren’t naturals.
3. Be willing to try new things. This class may challenge you to do things you’ve never done before. Be willing to converse with non-friends. Be willing to lead a group. Be willing to deliver a speech.
4. Show up on time and prepared for class.
5. Food and drinks (except water) are prohibited, unless explicit permission is given.
6. Chromebook and phone usage should be on-task. Misused devices will be confiscated for the day, and you will serve detention.

Late, Missing, and Unacceptable Work: If you have late, missing, or unacceptable work, you will be required to come to class during WIN time until you have turned work of acceptable quality in. It is likely you will also be assigned detention if you do not have an acceptable reason for missing WIN.
